The Problem
Most stories about the planet feel distant. They are often pessimistic, overly global, or driven by abstract science. People struggle to relate.
At the same time, the world is moving fast. There is little space for 90-minute documentaries in how people consume information today. Attention lives in short, visual formats, especially on social media.
Yet local voices are still missing there. Even though they are the ones most affected, their lived experience rarely becomes part of the story.
Our Program
Mountainly is an educational program that teaches the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking through short-form content. Teams of students and early-career professionals are given a platform to each share a local environmental issue. We teach them how to tell that story clearly, and in a way that fits today's media reality. Participants learn to translate complex topics into human stories that people can connect with.
